“Force without wisdom falls of its own weight.” ~ Horace
In our fast paced world, it’s crucial to take regular time outs. They can be in the form of a five-minute sanity break during a weekday. They can be a half-day excursion all the way to a weeklong adventure. What’s important is that you begin a practice of tuning out to tune into you.
This time is meant for you to consider who you are, what you want to create, experiences you’d like to have…all unencumbered by what your friends, family, media, social platforms and culture is pounding down your throat 24/7. Especially in the arena of what a career or relationship is supposed to look and be like. In the business of it all, one quickly forgets what’s true for you.
I call this Ritual Retreat time because it’s important to create ritual in your life. You actually have many rituals. Think about the way you get ready in the morning. I bet if you think about the way you take a shower, use your face creams and put on your make-up—there’s a ritual to it. And you do it this way all the time. What I’m encouraging you to do is consciously create personal development rituals into your life.
This can look like meditating. Or sitting quietly in a dedicated space in your home with objects and images around you that evoke your true nature and you simply breathe. Or it could be that you have a spot in nature you go to and write in your journal. It could even be a special coffee shop (not your every day one) where you read books that fill your soul, deepen your self-inquiry or inspire you to be more you. There’s no right or wrong way to create Ritual Retreat time. It’s highly personal. The intention is that you remove yourself from the noise of your life and sink into a space of openness and clarity.
Giving yourself this time brings your true essence to the surface. It enhances your radiance and sends out a specific energy that speaks volumes about who you really are. And that makes it so much easier for your actual dreams and desires to find you.
